Politicians are stubborn and if the workers lose the support of the public they will fail. I remember the teachers' strike of the mid 1980s which proved to be a disaster for the profession. It resulted in directed time and the national curriculum (with all its targets and league tables). Since then I have felt that strikes are usually counter productive. However, people should have the right to protest and I would support peaceful demonstrations and rallies. I think the UK will suffer some sort of disorder when the cuts bite in 2011. Most people do not realise that Cameron and Osborne are going to cut public spending by at least 25% and there is still a VAT rise to come.Willhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10237104509690571294noreply@blogger.com
