Tis the season for burning. In Alicante and in towns like Torrevieja, June marks the Hogueras de San Juan. Originally the people would burn old furniture on the night of San Juan (24th June). It has grown considerable since then with artworks that take many months to prepare being burnt in the streets. There are queens elected both junior and infant and of course great firework displays.
