The inauguration of this year’s Belén in Bigastro took place last Saturday in the parish hall.
For those of you who haven’t seen one of these, the Bethlehem is a depiction of the story of the birth of Christ using small figures and model buildings. They really are an art form and take months to prepare – well worth going to see.
Lots of people were down in the town to see the opening of this year’s Belén including, the Group of Belenistas, the parish priest, D. Aurelio Ferrándiz, the councilman of culture, José Espinosa and the Mayor of Bigastro, Raúl Valerio Medina.
To brighten up the occasion, the choir from the School of Music sang traditional Spanish carols.
