The Fiesta of the Holy Cross might seem to some to be a good excuse for a party but behind it is still the thanksgiving to the Lord for all of his work in preserving the people of the area.
Apart from the special mass this morning, the neighbours have shown their devotion by dressing the iron cross which gives the area its name with flowers and in some cases by putting up flower crosses outside their houses.
Sadly, the economic crisis means that each year there seem to be fewer crosses in the district. However, those that are there are just as stunning as ever.
If you look back over the pictures of the main cross itself that I have taken, you will see that the design and the flowers change quite a bit from year to year.
