The Medical Centre in Bigastro offers the following advice to enable people to cope with the hot weather.
The people at most risk are; children under 5, older people, people who are obese, those who are engaged in physical activity or those who are infirm.
The recommendations are:-
- drink a lot of liquid but avoid too much alcohol or caffeine.
- eat little and often especially fruit and vegetables.
- wear light coloured thin clothing which covers as much as possible.
- use sun cream
- plan activities for times when the day is cooler.
- make sure that children and old people drink plenty.
- use your air conditioning to reduce both the temperature and the humidity.
- don't leave young and old people or animals in a parked car.
