More holidays

Spain has a record number of bank holidays - an average of one per month. The next one here is on Thursday, 9th October which is a fiesta day just for the Valencian Community.

The 9th of Ocotber is known as el nou d’octubre and celebrates the liberation of Valencia by King Jaime I in 1238. We can expect fireworks and other celebrations on that day.

October 12th is also a bank holiday. So some businesses will "bridge" the holidays and take all four days off. As you will have realised, the 12th is a Sunday. In the UK workers would expect to get the Monday off in lieu but not here in Spain. Monday, the 13th will be business as usual.
