The strong gusts of wind have blown off the plate from the house on Calle San Juan where the poet Miguel Hernández was born in 1910.
The socialist councillor, Ana Mas says the breakage is a metaphor of the abandoned state of the building.
In 2002, the President of the Catalan Government, José Luis Olivas made a commitment to restoring the building. Francisco Camps who succeeded Olivas later honoured that commitment .
In 2007 a budget of 600,000€ was set aside for the project which was to be completed by April. Now seven years after the original commitment was made and nine months before the centenary celebrations of the poet's birth begin - nothing has been done.
