Ten new speed cameras have been located in the Province.
The sites chosen are the A-70 at the Villafranqueza exit, the A-70 18.5 kilometre mark in Alicante, the N-332 through Guardamar, Santa Pola and El Verger, the CV-91 in San Fulgencio, the CV-83 in Monóvar and the CV-734 in Jávea.
The deployment of the speed radars brings the total number now in use in Alicante Province to 23. The exact location of the cameras throughout Spain can be consulted on the DGT website (www.dgt.es) in Spanish only.
A further nine new cameras will be installed along roads in Valencia Province, six in Murcia and eight in Castellón. Altogether 190 new traffic radars have been installed throughout the country.
The announcement comes as 6.25 million vehicle movements are expected this weekend when millions of tourists hit the roads either returning home from their July holidays or setting out on their August vacations.
Analysts say speeding was the direct or indirect cause of a third of all traffic accidents in Spain last year. No surprise there then! I imagine overtaking was also a major cause.
