The former mayor of Bigastro, José Joaquín Moya and the acting mayor, Raúl Valerio Lorente Medina have been called to appear in court on the 17th June to answer allegations made against the former mayor regarding misappropriation of public funds.
According to the indictment, Moya withdrew between 375,000 and 700,000 Euros from the municipal accounts over a five year period without justification.The notes were signed by the secretary, the treasurer and the mayor. Valerio Medina was the town’s treasurer from June 2007 until late 2008.
Following this case, there are three more to be dealt with in what has been described as “Operation Bigastro”.
