Still going strong at the Isle of Wight

I have been a fan of the Rolling Stones since I saw them at Bradford back in 1964. It is good to hear that at their first festival appearance in 30 years they can still cut the mustard.

They apparently kicked off with the classic "Start Me Up".

Later in the set, Amy Winehouse joined them on stage for a brilliant rendition of "Ain't Too Proud To Beg", and Paulo Nutini sang the bluesy classic "Love in Vain" with Jagger.

Both worked brilliantly - alongside Stones classics "Satisfaction" and "Honky Tonk Woman" sang on a moving walkway.

Apparently they were only eclipsed by Muse, another of my favourite bands.

There are very few bands in the world who can beat The Rolling Stones at their own game, but at the Isle Of Wight Muse were one of them.

They had the lights, the smoke, the cool graphics on the big screen and, most importantly of all, amazing songs played with pure passion and conviction.

Let's just hope that the Who are just as good at Glastonbury.

Not everybody's cup of tea but there you go.
