The rain gauges of the Hydrographic Confederation of the Segura (CHS)registered an average of 15.8 litres per square metre of rain in the 24 hours up to 8am Tuesday.
The average for the year was almost double that of the previous years at 243.9 l/m2. As a result, the total volume of water in the reservoirs of the Segura now stands at 254.8 cubic hectometres which is 180 cubic hectometres more than last year and is well over the average for the previous years. This marks the end of the four years of drought (2004-2008) that the area has experienced.
The CHS reports that the water channels of the Segura river basin have coped normally with the intense precipitations this winter.
