Well it seemed predictable that Federer should win Wimbledon. He didn’t have things all his way though. In the longest men’s final in history in terms of games played, Federer beat a valiant Roddick.
What this means though is that Federer is now the greatest player in Grand Slam history but more to the point has knocked Nadal off the top spot.
As I said on Friday, a Spaniard desperately needs to win in the Tour de France to restore glory to Spain. It is unlikely to come today though as the Tour moves from Marseille to La Grand Motte. Another day for the sprinters, another day perhaps for Mark Cavendish to gain some glory for England.
PS Is it just me or do others find Federer a bit ostentatious in his gold and white with emblazed F crests?
