Under new management

At the meeting last night, José told us that Darren has now taken over the running of La Pedrera. Having been introduced as the new manager, Darren then went on to explain his ambition plans for change.

First off the place will be open each day both during mornings and at night. The restaurant will be open each day except Mondays. In the mornings they will serve English breakfasts, at lunchtimes a menú del dia and at night a menú de la noche. Fridays will still be fish and chips, Thursdays- theme night and Sundays – roast dinner. Bar snacks are of course available at all times.

Most days there will be some sort of activity both during the daytime and at night. These will range from darts competitions to line dancing and include the popular quizzes. There will still be live entertainment on Saturday nights.

The price of drinks will be reduced!

Apart from reducing the price of drinks, Darren explained his newly introduced loyalty card. Each time you buy a drink or have a meal in he restaurant, you get a stamp on your card. Once you have sufficient stamps, you get a free drink or meal.

The lottery has been changed.

You now get tickets for the lottery each time you go up to La Pedrera. The more times you go up and take part in the events – the more tickets you accumulate. The draw for the lottery will take place on Saturdays but will not run over as it did previously. Instead, tickets will be drawn until someone wins the 100€ prize. As with the previous lottery though, you have to be at La Pedrera on Saturday night to win.

A lot of changes

There was a lot to take in – a lot of new ideas and a reshuffle of existing ones. Darren very kindly gave us sheets to explain most of the changes, so I’m sure we will figure it all out.

Taking over the running of La Pedrera is a big step for Darren and Hazel to take. They have obviously thought this through very carefully and have come up with ideas that they think will work. Only time will tell.

One thing for sure – they won’t fail through lack of trying.
