Local police in Rojales

An member of the Local Police in Rojales registered a denuncia against his companions two day before leaving the force. In it he says that, amongst other things, officers were drinking on duty and racing patrol cars. The ex-policeman claims that the local force in Rojales suffered from a general malaise and a lack of motivation.

Now the comments have been confirmed by other officers in the Local Police at Rojales who are demanding a plan of action for improvement. They say, for example, that there are bars which offer the officers 20 euros of free drinks every month - an action which could be considered as a bribe.

First we read about corruption in local politics, then about corruption in regional government and now in a local police force. These problems are not confined to Spain. There is no doubt they exist in many other countries including Britain. At least here there seems to be a growing awareness of the issues and a willingness to do something about them.
