Frozen account

Since February, the Guardia Civil have been collecting documents and records of municipal accounting in Bigastro. The police have already visited the laCaixa, CAM and Caja Rural banks to verify information about payments to and from the council. Now they have placed an order blocking one of these accounts.

However, Raúl Valerio has assured the citizens that business is normal. The council workforce were paid this Monday and the council meeting which was postponed on the 31st of October will take place this Friday along with the other two meeting to accept José Joaquín Moya's resignation and to appoint a new mayor.

To add to the misery, the United Left (IU) yesterday denounced the Bigastel wi-fi system as a fraud and a swindle. They say the system which was originally offered for 100€ per year does not work. In presenting the system, the council described it as being available to all citizens of Bigastro. Because of the lack of infrastructure, this promise has not been fulfilled. IU are either unaware of the intention to use WiMax to extend the system to a wider audience or are concerned about the extra cost that the different technology imposes.
