La Asociación de Familiares Enfermos de Alzheimer "Acuérdate de mí" in Bigastro has, for years, worked on and carried out many interesting projects for its members and partners.
Two of these projects
- AQUATIC GYMNASTICS AND THERAPEUTIC REHABILITATION PROJECT FOR PATIENTS OF ALZHEIMER AND OTHER DEMENTIAS .
Exercising in a pool is both preventive and therapeutic. Aqua gymnastics provides low impact exercise that people of all ages and disabilities can enjoy. Working in water reduces the stress on bones and joints. Regular sessions are held in the Municipal Pool at the Multi-Sports Centre.
- TRAINING ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIFE FOR PATIENTS OF ALZHEIMER AND OTHER DEMENTIAS AT HOME.
The Foundation “la Caixa” along with the Association of Alzheimer of Bigastro represented by their president, Mrs Mª Angels Mateo Grau, signed an agreement of collaboration to the project "Entrenamiento de las Actividades de la vida diaria a enfermos de Alzheimer y otras demencias en domicilios" that the bigastrense association presented to the Convocatoria de Proyectos de Acción Social.
This project is based on the conviction that daily training of routine activities in the home (combing their own hair, getting dressed, walking…), the basic tasks that people peform, slows down the deterioration of Alzheimer suffers and gives them greater independence.
