British and Spanish security forces, Crimesttoped and the British Agency against Organised Crime (Soca), are collaborating to find ten British criminals who they think might be hiding on the Costa Blanca. The nine men and one woman are wanted for a variety of offences including sex crimes, murder, drug trafficking, fiscal fraud and kidnapping.
There is no evidence to show that any of these have committed crimes here in Spain. In fact crimes among British nationals is low here on the Costa Blanca - 516 in total last year of which 471 were in Alicante province
In 2006, joint authorities conducted a similar operation on the Costa del Sol centred in Malaga. With 134,000 Brits living in the Valencian Community - 58,000 in Alicante, it seemed sensible to extend these operations to the Costa Blanca.
Anyone who has information about these people's whereabouts can call the free number 900 555 111 or go to www.crimesttoped-uk.org.
