Pam and I had been talking about this just before Diane Clarke arrived with a note:-
We have been invited by the Town Hall to participate in the Jornada Gastronomica (Gastronomy Day) which will take place on Thursday 13th August at 2.00 p.m. in Plaza de la Concordia ( the square between the Avalon Bar and the Social Club near the Roma Bar). Our theme is "The British Buffet"
I am asking for volunteers to make, bake, cook anything to go on the table e.g. pies, pastries, sausage rolls, quiche, cakes, biscuits — anything you like. If you don't want to cook but want to contribute remember — "Mums go to Iceland".
All I ask is that you let me know what you are cooking so that I label the food for the benefit of the Spanish people. You can contact me (Diane) on 966772147 or casaclarke@hotmail.co.uk. Food will need to be taken down to the square before 2.00p.m. on 13 August to set up the tables but I will let you know what time when the Town Hall advises me.
In advance I would like to thank you for all contributions which will be gratefully received.
Diane Clarke
DIane, we would like to thank you for your efforts in coordinating our contributions.
The Gastronomy Day is a very popular feature of the Fiesta and the British contribution is always eagerly awaited by the townsfolk who attend.
Diane has made a great effort to let people know about this but is aware that there are a lot of British people living in Bigastro who are not at Villas Andrea. So whether you live on the campsite at La Pedrera or in the town itself, please feel invited to participate.
