It seems that Torrevieja is to have a new museum to hold all the artefacts that are used during Semana Santa (Easter). This will be built at a cost of 5.844.000 Euros with assistance from the Plan Especial de Apoyo a la Inversión Productiva en Municipios de la Comunidad Valenciana (Plan Confianza).
The existing museum, which occupies 2,00 square metres was built in 1992. The new building will occupy 4,750 square metres with three underground levels, five floors and an attic. The site for the building is a council owned plot on the Avenida de las Habaneras.
