Pictures from the huerta

The huerta is the kitchen garden for the area. Much of it is planted out with citrus trees although there are also palm groves, the odd olive tree  and fields of vegetables as well.

The area depends upon an irrigation system which is Arabic in origin. A series of sluice gates direct the water from the main canals along  to the areas of planting.
