At the council meeting tomorrow, the PP have scheduled a motion regarding the award of a contract to open the municipal pool and restaurant at La Pedrera. However, it will face opposition from both the socialists and the liberals which means that it will not be passed.
For the socialists, Raúl Valerio Medina says that the mayor has shown a “lack of administrative discretion”. He believes that there should have been a committee set up to evaluate the report from the favoured company detailing how and when they intended to invest their promised 180,000 euros on the premises. He points out that the company have only submitted a guarantee of 480 euros against a fee of 600 euros per year.
Although many would like to see the pool reopened, including those on our urbanisation without pools of their own, bitter experience has taught Spaniards to be wary of councils awarding contracts without a full and transparent process of investigation first.
