As expected, yesterday’s council meeting in Bigastro ended up with the three parties in disagreement over the plan for 450,000 euros of investment from the Plan of Works and Services. With the deadline for submission in just a few days time, that means the money will be lost to the town.
Last month is was Aurelio Murcia that was expelled from a meeting for being disrespectful. This time it was Raúl Valerio Medina that was expelled along with the rest of the socialists. It is fair to say that the three parties do not see eye to eye on just about everything.
For his part, Aurelio Murcia’s said that his objection to work in the cemetery was based on the fact that part of it is privately owned and therefore the council did not have permission to carry out the planned 88,000 euros of work there. I don’t know about the other proposals.
On a brighter note, due to the abstention by the socialists, the process of regularising the pool at La Pedrera campsite was approved and the contract for the pool at La Pedrera was also approved.
The next municipal elections take place in 2015. It will be interesting to see how the electorate vote then and whether any one party gets overall control of the council. The current stalemate must be very frustrating for all of the parties particularly the PP who are trying to run the town with a minority of seats.
