They could be out for awhile

First we are told that the Houses of Parliament are in a very sorry state with crumbling masonry and a danger of part of the roof collapsing.

If the MPs and Peers stay, the work could take 32 years and cost £5.7 billion to £7.1 billion. If they move out, the cost is reduced to somewhere around £4.4 billion.

At the same time, Buckingham Palace also needs some major work done on it. The Queen's home needs to be rewired and have new plumbing. It also is well overdue for redecoration - the last time this was done was 1952. The cost for that would be about £150 million. Again, there is a debate about whether the Queen should move out or stay whilst the work is being undertaken.

Both should move. As for HM, I don't think an elderly lady would want to stay whilst "the builders are in". Probably the easiest would be to Windsor, which She is said to prefer anyway. Parliament would also make life easier for everyone, not to mention it being cheaper. What would happen to Portcullis House during interim though, if temporary Parliament not nearby, not sure if Westminster Hall, across Parliament Square, is really suitable for a bi-cameras parliament.

Bi-cameral. Doh.
